Essay doesn't say much, doesn't need to. He'll take work nobody else wants, for less than anybody else would, and do it without complaint.
Part of that is just who he is. Part of it is that he doesn't exactly have a choice — his dad Fernando is undocumented, and so is he, which means steady work isn't something he can afford to be picky about.
Nobody really knows the full story of how the family ended up this way. Essay's not telling.
